The Washington Can’t Wait campaign is continuing to build a diverse base of supporters across the state who are ready to take action and urge their legislators to pass major changes to Washington’s Growth Management Act (GMA) that would address climate change, housing affordability, and environmental justice. We still have a lot of work left to do if we want to make these big changes to the GMA, and we need your help. Please join us in contacting your legislators next week during our Week of Action!
Week of Action
What: A week of advocacy and outreach to flood our legislators with calls, emails, postcards, and social media posts urging them to update the GMA in the 2021 Legislative session to address climate change, housing affordability, and environmental justice.
When: November 16th to November 20th (next week!)
Why: To let our legislators know that their constituents want them to prioritize these GMA updates as they move into the 2021 legislative session.
How:
Participate as an individual calling and/or writing your legislators
Host a virtual organizing party with your friends to take action together
Write an op-ed or letter to the editor for your local news outlet
Create a social media post and tag your legislator to bring attention to the campaign and why it matters to you!
We will offer templates, materials, and resources to make each of these actions as accessible as possible. Register here to tell us how you will take action and we will follow up with resources to support you!
If you have some time to spare, consider volunteering for the campaign. No matter your capacity or experience, there is a way you can help us grow this movement to update the GMA!
Join us in taking action to ensure that Washington’s largest cities and counties are planning for a future that protects our climate, our environment, and our communities.
Your voice matters, make sure it is heard!
Thank you for your support!
For a better future,
Jamie Ptacek
