We are excited to be co-sponsoring a series of youth-led policy webinars in January with the youth climate lobbying group, Our Climate, who we are also partnering with on our pre-session virtual lobbying efforts. This is a fantastic way for us to do some deep education on the major policies heading into the 2021 legislative session, and to center the voices of youth climate organizers!
Washington’s upcoming 2021 Legislative Session will be historic. With our lawmakers having to take urgent action to address the COVID-19 pandemic, our state runs the risk of neglecting to take action on other critical issues.
We must remind our legislators that one crisis does not pause another, and that in fact all the crises Washingtonian’s face are deeply connected and require comprehensive, bold, equitable policy changes. We cannot allow our legislature to wait another year to act on the climate crisis, our backwards tax code, and racial justice.
Through a series of interactive webinars hosted by policy experts and youth activists, we will cover the wide range of issues that are at stake this legislative session and what policies we can advocate for to ensure a better future for all Washingtonians.
