Good afternoon, amazing CATs! Here’s your weekly volunteer update!

HUGE thanks to all who made it out to our fundraising event, Intertwined, on Saturday evening.

We’re looking forward to things slowing down a bit this week due to the holiday, but before we take time to relax with friends and family, please take a moment to look over what we’ve accomplished and what we have coming up this week!

CAT Hot Takes

  • We are getting closer to the start of the 2023 legislative session in January and we’ve spent the last 7 weeks building the foundation of our work together in our CAT Teams.

  • Now is an excellent time to start connecting to specific roles in a CAT Team if you haven’t already! We hope to have all of our CAT Volunteers and Teams set up for success by the first week of January, and this email is full of resources to help get you there.

  • We had an incredible turnout for our annual fundraising event, Intertwined, on Saturday. It was amazing to see folks come together to celebrate the fruits of 350 Seattle’s hard work this year, and to fête (celebrate) Shemona’s new position as Executive Director! With your help, we raised just shy of $83,000 – including $25,000 from our challenge gift!

  • We had two special cross training events for skills to serve on the Email Team – check out the updates & resources below and consider if you can take on a role in this crew.

  • We had an awesome Bill Tracker Team meeting yesterday!

    • Check out the Video & catch up on our past videos to help you get connected to this work. You can find past recordings in the Volunteer Guide.

  • The Lobbying Team is asking all CAT Volunteers to fill out a quick survey to help in updating some of their information so we can watch for potential legislative lobbying opportunities that might benefit from your voice and story as a constituent. The survey asks for your newly redrawn legislative district and your climate policy interests and connections.

  • We have a new Onboarding Team! Team members Rachel & Sue have been meeting with new volunteers to learn more, explore resources, and get plugged into our campaign.

All the meetings!

  • Weekly CAT All-Hands Volunteer Call – Tuesdays @ 11am –  Zoom here

    • No meeting on 11/22 – enjoy your holiday break!

    • Our central gathering space for the campaign. Get to know people, get connected to roles in the campaign, and stay in the loop!

  • Email Team – Tuesdays @ 3pm – Zoom here

    • This is the Team that distills all of our policy knowledge into real actions that people can take, and it takes a whole publishing crew to make this possible.

    • Our Email Team has built out our structure for the year and we are ready to start cross training new volunteers into specific roles & skills for this crew!

    • Check out our newly updated volunteer opportunities in our Email Team here in this CAT Roles spreadsheet and we hope you’ll join us!

    • All are welcome.

  • Lobbying Team –  Weekly on Mondays @ 12pm – Zoom here

  • Bill Tracker & Policy Team – Weekly on Mondays @ 6-7:30pm Zoom here

    • This week, we reviewed the Notes Template that teams will be using to centralize all their knowledge, talking points, and resources.  We also met in our policy tracking teams to start planning how each team will work together this session.  Check out the recording here.

    • If you are interested in bill tracking but haven’t picked a team yet, no worries!  Come to Monday’s meeting or reach out to David Perk and we will get you plugged in!

    • This is a fabulous crew who is ready to welcome y’all into some powerful work together for the session with education and action content. We are working on fresh recruitment material so we can sign up tons of action takers ahead of session, as well as creating educational content to keep folks engaged and ready for the upcoming session.

    • We are looking for a few more folks to join us! You don’t have to be an Instagram wiz to support social media. Check out the CAT Roles spreadsheet to see a few options of how you can get involved.
