Hi there CAT team!

To take your mind off of the cold and wet weather – read below for some updates on what CAT is up to!

We have a lot of teams working hard to make some big change this legislative session. Here’s what they’re up to:

Team updates:

  • Comms

    • Comms is working on defining and distributing roles for work to get done this legislative session

    • More great website content has been added! Check out www.350wa.org

    • Awesome social media content – see this Slack thread

    • If you missed Monday night’s call, check it out here: recorded here

  • Bill trackers

    • In the weekly bill tracking meeting we had an equity filter work party.

      • Bill trackers are working in ‘policy area cohorts’ to identify key equity considerations, questions and actions to deepen our analysis.

      • We have been doing this using 350 Seattle’s:

    • Lots of bill tracking to do as session takes off! Great to see folks supporting each other, learning together and throwing down on an impressive 121 bills!

  • Data/ops

    • Two spreadsheets have been developed to (1) analyze action takers’ Survey Actions and (2) share action takers’ Survey Feedback with team leads to better monitor feedback with teams and better support action takers.

  • Email action

    • The email action team is chugging along getting our actions out to action takers each week.

    • The Action Email Team is in need of 1-2 more volunteers to cross-train into the Survey Production Role. That’s creating the final action survey in our tool, Tally.

    • Want to help jam on the weekday email actions? Join our work parties from 9-12p on Tuesdays.

What else is going on?

Mark your calendar for the Legislative Education & Advocacy Fair!

Join us January 25, 6:00 – 7:30pm (online, via zoom) for this special event!

  • Learn about the Washington State Legislative system and connect with awesome groups who are doing legislative advocacy work around the environment, climate, justice, and more.

  • Co-hosted by the 350 WA Civic Action Team, Washington Conservation Action, The Lands Council, Transportation Choices Coalition, Climate Action Families, Audubon WA, UTOPIA WA, Environment WA, Save our Wild Salmon, The Nature Conservancy, Our Climate, and many more.

  • We are looking for folks to help facilitate and take on scripted speaking roles for this event. Particularly young people! If you or anyone you know is interested, please reach out to grace@350seattle.org

  • RSVP here!

In-person lobby day opportunity!

Lobby with Futurewise: Sharing an opportunity to participate in our partner Futurewise’s Connecting Communities Lobby Day on 1/25. Futurewise is an important partner organization to 350WA as we follow their lead on many housing policies. They add a lot of value to our CAT spaces to keep us tuned into bills and policies to track, and in turn, we help them with visibility and getting these bills to the finish line with our people power. Organizing doesn’t work without these important cross-collaborations. Team up with Futurewise on this lobby day to show the strength CAT truly has! Please reach out to jordan@350seattle.org or claire@350seattle.org if you have any questions, and we can help connect you!

  • Register here: https://bit.ly/lobbyday2024

  • Want to help make signs for the event? Futurewise would love help with that as well. Reach out to Jordan or Claire!
