Our stories matter and so do our storytellers. That is why TODAY — during the Sundance Film Festival — in collaboration with Blackhouse, we are hosting a conversation about the role of Black creatives in advancing the work to end patriarchal violence through filmmaking and within the film and entertainment industries.
What would it look like to uplift the voices of Black survivors, women, and trans folks in our community by sharing narratives that reinforce our core values? That includes choosing not only what stories we watch and support, but also the stories we uplift and invest in as a community and society as a whole. We have the power to choose our on-screen representations and make clear the people we believe are trusted storytellers for our communities.
