This week is the Defund Formosa Week of Action. Activists from New York to Denver are organizing actions at Bank of America branches demanding they denounce Formosa Plastics’ environmentally racist “Sunshine Project.”
The goal of the Stop Formosa campaign is to ensure that this massive petrochemical complex – which would emit air pollution equivalent to 3 coal plants per year – will never get built. Led by the faith-based, Black-led community organization RISE St. James, the campaign has already significantly slowed down the project through fierce organizing and litigation.
Bank of America is our target for this week of action because it has already helped the company sell $1 billion in bonds, and is most likely to fund the project.
With your help, we can make sure Bank of America refuses to fund this toxic project.
Your email will go directly into the inbox of the people who have the power to make big decisions. This is a simple and powerful way for us to make sure Bank of America knows that thousands of people across the country are paying attention to what happens in St. James Parish, Louisiana.
