WPSR and Oregon PSR release report on health, safety, and fracked gas

Join us on July 11th to learn more and take action

Dear friend,

In the past two decades, the Pacific Northwest has become a major target for fossil fuel projects that threaten our health and climate. We’ve successfully halted major oil and coal export facilities, and now we are focused on fighting the spectre of major fracked gas projects that pose grave dangers to our region.

WPSR health professionals are calling for clean, renewable energy in response to harmful proposals for mega-fracked gas infrastructure in Tacoma and Kalama. Last week, we released a 150-page research report with our Oregon PSR colleagues on the specific threats to health and safety fracked gas projects pose in our region.
Dr. Rejean Idzerda, a member of WPSR’s Climate & Health Task Force and co-author of our report, delivered our findings to Governor Inslee’s staff with WPSR President Dr. Mark Vossler. See coverage in Sightline Institute and The Columbian.
We are more committed than ever to standing with communities impacted by fossil fuel projects to ensure they are never built. With this in mind, we invite you to join us on July 11th in Seattle for the Seattle debut of “Ancestral Waters”, a powerful new documentary film that tells the story of the Puyallup Tribe’s resistance to the Tacoma fracked gas facility that is being built on their ancestral land without proper permits.
