I know that 350.org recently hosted a similar workshop and, in that spirit, I wanted to extend an invitation to you all to
join an upcoming Broadening our Ideas of Climate Justice – Militarism and Climate Justice Workshop that is being organized by the Stop the Money Pipeline Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team (a team that includes several 350 local group leaders!)What: Broadening our Ideas of Climate Justice – Militarism and Climate Justice workshopWhen: Tuesday, Jan 23rd, 4-530PT / 5-630MT / 6-730CT / 7-830ETWhere: 👉 RSVP here 👈
Workshop Description: The links between militarism, climate change, and injustice are abundant but often overlooked, under-communicated, and ignored in climate movement spaces. Since 2022, more than 500,000 people have been wounded or killed as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Russia has used its supply of fossil fuels as a weapon of war. The latest military actions by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza – killing tens of thousands of human beings, displacing nearly 2 million people, destroying the natural environment, and perpetrating mass human rights violations – has put these issues front and center in the climate justice movement. This workshop will be a series of educational presentations diving into the links between militarism and colonialism – particularly that of the US – climate change, and climate justice, with an eye towards Palestine and Indigenous land and water protectors.
