Together, we have persevered over the years in our shared resolve to support Indigenous leadership in the fight to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion and protect the environment for generations to come. It is so beautifully clear that when fueled by community, joy and creativity, we are unstoppable. 

We are dipping our hands into the pools of creativity to find meaningful ways to join together in good spirits and strengthen one another’s morale during these times. What better way than a virtual Pancakes and Jam brunch party! Join us on Saturday May 2, 10:30 am PDT, for an online cafe, in collaboration with Vines Art Festival! Enjoy poetry, live music, and beautiful solidarity. Bring your pancakes – or favourite brunch – and let’s eat, sip, and pull together. Host Mary Lovell will be joined by Jillian Christmas, Desiree Dawson and Kin Balam! Desirée Dawson, Vancouver based singer-songwriter, won the CBC’s Searchlight Competition in 2016, Desirée’s song ‘Just Fine’ spent months on CBC’s Top 20. Spoken word artist Jillian’s work has been featured in Huffington Post, and anthologized in a number of collections. Kin Balam is from the Indigenous lands of Cuxkatan, Nekepio, El Salvador. Flamenco, Latin American, Indigenous Mesoamerican, Afro Latin Jazz, and Hip Hop are all the elements that makeup the powerful fabric of Balam’s new yet ancient rooted musical style.

Bring your pancakes, a mug of tea or coffee and gather your loved ones, children and friends to join this virtual gathering of good cheer, tunes and community. Let’s combat the pandemic blues, and bring the power of joy to combat the climate crisis.
