Hello — I’m reaching out because you signed the WA State Lands Group’s Call to Action on behalf of an organization.
In a related effort, a coalition of state forest advocates, including Conservation Northwest and the Center for Responsible Forestry, is launching a campaign asking our state legislators to act before April 24 to protect some of our most carbon-dense older forests.
Washington State’s older state-owned forests are carbon workhorses, storing and sequestering carbon at remarkable rates. But these forests are scheduled to be logged under current state policy — 4,000 more acres in the next year!

Every time one of these rare forests is logged, we’re giving up a powerful tool in our climate-change-fighting toolbox — and we don’t have time to waste. Between now and April 24, the last day of the 2023 legislative session, our state senators and representatives have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in our most carbon-dense publicly-owned forests, ensuring that these older trees keep doing their job of storing and sequestering carbon and protecting our future.

We’ve made it quick and easy for your organization to email key legislators and decision makers and ask that they take action for climate and older forests.

Click here to email your legislators — it takes 2 minutes!
If you are able to speak on behalf of your organization, please indicate that in the body of the email.
And once you’ve clicked “send,” please take a moment to share this opportunity with members of your group who are willing to take a stand alongside us.
Thank you for your time and support!
