Hello dear 350 climate organizing community across the PNW,

Grace Hope here! 🌈

Who’s ready for a BIG Snake River Dam update and lots of action items? Did you know that by this summer we hope to have a decision from lawmakers on restoring this river, removing the dams, and replacing the energy needs sustainably?

I’m excited to share these updates with y’all across the region because each of us can help play a role in making it politically possible to get a decision to restore a free flowing Snake River this summer. Even if you are outside of Washington!

We know it’s going to take lots of support from many different directions and groups to help raise enough awareness of the strong tribal leadership on this issue and of this river’s critical connection to restoring salmon and orca populations.

Here’s what you and your 350 group need to know!

  • It’s time for public comment. The big report is out showing a practical pathway to removal and the Murray/Inslee comment period is open now. See www.LSRDoptions.org for more info.

    • Public comment. Now is the time to make some NOISE! Our friends at Save Our Wild Salmon have put together an awesome action alert for public comment on the Draft Report. We are invited to send folks to make comment here, or you can work up your own public comment guidance for your base using the basic outline:

      • Thank you Murray and Inslee for the report and your leadership.

      • The Draft Report confirms we can replace the dams’ services fully, feasibly and affordably.

      • Salmon face extinction today and urgent action is needed.

      • Please act quickly to develop and deliver a comprehensive plan that removes the LSR dams and replaces their services with alternatives.

  • “Rally for Salmon – June 25th” This a big flotilla event coming together on the water in Portland for June 25th to draw more attention to the story of this river and the bid to remove the dams. Tons of partners!

With lots of care, 🌲
