Hi Stop the Money Pipeline Coalition –

In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic and in solidarity with youth climate strikers, the Stop the Money Pipeline Steering Committee has reached a unanimous decision to encourage our hosts and coalition members to move our plans online for April 23rd. However, this does not mean we are letting up the pressure — in fact, it could be quite the opposite!

To learn more about what this looks like, tune in this Sunday to the broader Strike With Us coalition webinar at 7pm ET/4pm PT. Then, on Thursday at 12pm ET we’ll hold our regular STMP call to discuss the latest plans, creatively brainstorm together, and pivot tactics.

This does have some immediate implications:

  • All current STMP event hosts have received this email notifying them of this shift and inviting them to the webinar.

  • The roll-out of our Grants Programs (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and Frontline Grants Program & Grassroots Action Grants Program) will be postponed until we have a clearer idea of what criteria they should include given our shift in tactics.

  • We encourage all organizations to stop host recruitment until firmer plans have been created.

  • If you are receiving media inquiries, feel free to send them our public statement here.

  • We will be pushing back the hopeful adoption of our Statement of Principles to March 24.

In the meantime, we’re encouraging folks to get creative! There are many resources coming together every day like — this one, this one, y esto — to imagine what creative protest can look like in times of social distancing. On Thursday, we’ll share some of the ideas coming out of all of the wonderful STMP working groups and make these online actions something that rises to this occasion and takes our targets by storm. We can and we will continue building this movement to take on Wall Street’s financing of the climate crisis, even in these trying and uncertain times.

In solidarity,

Emily and the STMP Steering Committee
