Thanks to the many of you who joined the monthly Third Act All-In Call on March 23, where we were inspired by Congresswoman Barbara Lee and the lifelong activism of the Divine Miss M, Bette Midler. As usual, the call was action packed! If you missed the call, you can watch a recording here.
Safeguarding our Democracy
On the call, Bill McKibben and Deborah Moore (that’s me!), Third Act Campaign Strategist, launched Mobilizing for the Midterms – a new effort and partnership with Activate America. For the next few weeks we will join together to write postcards to voters in Arizona and Pennsylvania to encourage them to request their vote-by-mail ballot in time for the state’s primary election. Research shows that the low-tech postcard is a very effective voter engagement method. Let’s encourage massive voter turnout in key states this year! We also previewed upcoming initiatives to win strong voting laws, protect our elections, and more – check out the photo below of Third Act Nevada supporters in action, rallying to defeat an anti-voter rule in Washoe County.

Protecting our Climate
We also shined a spotlight on our Third Act Virginia Working Group members, Deborah Kushner and Bill Muth, who have been organizing actions at Wells Fargo and Chase branches and shared with us why they have been moved to join with Third Act to advance solutions for our climate and democracy.
Banking on our Future Toolkit: Check out our new Toolkit that includes everything you need to help recruit your friends, family, and networks to sign the Pledge: talking points, sample emails, letters to the editor, letters to your Bank’s branch manager, starting points for finding a better credit card and bank, and so much more. Includes photos and information from Third Act Virginia’s activities to inspire you! Use the resources in the Toolkit to engage people at a farmer’s market, discuss at a family gathering, host a talk at your retirement community, or…..other creative ideas.
April is Earth Month and a Sacred Season: Join us in Action
We have three more events in March to tee-up important activities during this Sacred Season between March 17 and May 6 that encompasses Holi, Vaisakhi, Ramadan, Passover, Easter, Vesak, Naw Ruz, Ridvan, and Earth Day. Climate, democracy, and justice are inextricably intertwined. Let’s join together and work to end our reliance on fossil fuels and accelerate a transition to a just and sustainable future.

Rabbi Liebling is one of the leaders of the Third Act Faith Working Group, organizing the “Freedom from Pharaohs” event, and director of the Social Justice Organizing Program at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, working toward tikkun olam, repair of the world.

Welcome to Third Act (March 28, 7:30 pm ET/4:30 pm PT) – Join Third Act Lead Organizer Bob Fulkerson to hear all about Working Groups, network with other local supporters, and learn how you can plug into Third Act organizing.
March Co-Working Party (March 30, 3:30 pm ET/12:30 pm PT) – Join with fellow Third Actors on Zoom for a dedicated work space to write Letters to the Editor and postcards to voters. Watch the recording of our January Teach-In about writing LTEs and sign-up in advance to get your voter addresses and postcards. Let’s get to know each other while we make a difference.
