Jeanne —

The state legislative session has started, and we’ve got an excellent climate bill that needs your support!

Rep. Alex Ramel’s bill Healthy Homes, Clean Buildings, HB 1084, is one of the most impactful climate bills of this year’s legislative session. This policy would require new buildings to be carbon-free by 2030, and eliminate fossil fuels from existing buildings by 2050. That’s huge! Residential and commercial buildings are one-fifth of Washington’s greenhouse gas emissions — and this sector’s emissions are growing the fastest.

Healthy Homes, Clean Buildings is scheduled for a hearing on Friday morning at 10:00am, and we want to give it the strongest start possible, with hundreds of sign-ons in support — please share this email with your friends!

  1. Follow the link below, complete the fields and select “Pro” in the position button. That’s it!
Please sign on to support Healthy Homes, Clean Buildings, HB 1084
(This option expires on Friday morning.)
  2. If you have extra time, please add a written comment as well!
Follow this link to provide a written comment via the legislative website. This option is available until Saturday morning. For “Position” – select “Pro”! Your first sentence should be: I strongly support HB 1084. The rest is up to you, but here are some ideas to get you started:
  • This year’s State Energy Strategy showed that electrifying buildings is the most cost-effective way to meet our carbon reduction goals and lower energy costs.
  • We need to avoid further investments in gas infrastructure, which will become stranded assets as we transition to a clean energy economy.
  • Keep this bill strong! Don’t let amendments or other provisions water this bill down.

Thanks for taking action for the climate in this year’s legislative session!
