On Friday, more than 100 of us shut down a street outside of a JPMorgan Chase branch in Ballard. We created a giant Defund Line 3 human mural, hung oil banners from their front doors, and deployed a 50ft long oil pipeline. Our friends at Protectors of the Salish Sea erected a tarpee on the street outside.

The Seattle action was one of nearly 100 actions across the world. From San Francisco to New York, Geneva to London, Costa Rica to Canada, people took to the streets, united in their demand that banks stop funding Line 3.

We made this #DefundLine3 video with footage from the actions in Seattle, New York City, San Francisco, DC, Geneva and London. Can you help us share it out?

If built, Line 3 would have the same climate impact as fifty new coal-fired power plants, endanger 800 waterways, and violate treaty rights. It cannot be built without the support of major banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. That’s why we’re going to keep the pressure up.

This Friday, Protectors of the Salish Sea is organizing a #DefundLine3 Prayer Walk. Can you make it?

What: Defund Line 3 – Prayer Walk with Protectors of the Salish Sea
When: Friday, May 14th at 10am
Where: Meet at Westlake Park.

RSVP and share here.

All across the nation, resistance to Line 3 is heating up. More than 250 people have been arrested for taking direct action to stop construction, police harassment and surveillance is increasing, and Indigenous leaders on the frontlines have issued a mass call for people to go to Minnesota.

We hope you can join the action this Friday. Together, we can stop this pipeline.

Alec, for the Stop the Money Pipeline team
