This is infuriating, Jeanne.
News just broke that the Democratic National Committee quietly reversed its commitment to eliminate fossil fuel subsidies from the party platform – saying that including the language in the first place was an “error.”
Our movement fought hard – and was successful – in getting this key, common-sense provision added to the platform. We will not let the DNC walk backwards on this commitment without a fight.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris both ran on a platform of axing subsidies and tax breaks for fossil fuels – and have repeatedly called for it on the campaign trail. They know that Americans don’t want their tax dollars going to billionaire executives and dirty companies like Exxon that are destroying our planet.
The DNC needs to get on board with the party leaders and immediately include a ban on subsidies in the platform – but they’ll only do it if they feel massive grassroots pressure to do so.
The DNC is looking to see how people are reacting to the convention online. Every message we send on social media helps make our case for ending fossil fuel subsidies stronger.
Biden is speaking tomorrow and we hope to see him rebuke the DNC and lead with the strong climate policies that he and Senator Harris have promised.
