United States citizens joined by those in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Italy, Switzerland, France, Norway, and Germany in historic wave of climate civil disobedience
Cities in the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, UK, France, and Norway will see an unprecedented level of nonviolent disruption to halt the climate and ecological emergency starting in April. This international uprising will include sustained highway and infrastructure blockages, hunger strikes, and other dramatic actions. Across nations, citizens are making personal sacrifices to resist their governments’ furthering of the extermination project commonly known as the climate and ecological emergency. After 1.2 degrees Celsius increase in global average temperatures, and with a fossil-fueled Russia waging war on its neighbor, ordinary people are taking action against mass starvation, mass displacement, and social collapse. These multiracial, multigenerational, and cross-class groups will go as far as it takes, nonviolently, to win. Mass arrests are expected.
What makes this campaign different? Each group has a policy demand that is specific, broadly popular and winnable. These policies have even been supported by governments, at least with words.
In the United States, Declare Emergency will be engaging in sustained road blockages in Washington DC. It is demanding that President Biden declare a climate emergency and stop all extraction on federal and indigenous land. He must issue Executive Orders mandating the immediate implementation of programs to protect anyone whose job is displaced by climate remedial actions, including jobs training, jobs creation, healthcare, bridge support, economic zones, and relocation. The campaign will continue through April. Volunteers are welcome.
