We need more welcoming communities

  • Does your community welcome people who are unhoused by helping them find a house, or does it try to get them to go somewhere else to get them out of sight, out of mind?
  • Does your community welcome individuals and families living on fixed incomes or paycheck to paycheck, or does it try to appeal to super rich people looking for super expensive homes, restaurants, and stores?
  • Does your community welcome people who lace up their shoes, roll a wheelchair, jump on their bike, or ride a bus to get around, or does it mainly care about how to move motorized vehicles from one part of town to another?
  • Does your community welcome people with health care and daily support needs so they can live where they want with the people they want, or does it try to move people with such needs into large institutional settings with strangers?

If your community isn’t welcoming in these ways, it isn’t welcoming for people with disabilities.

Please fill out this quick survey to let our Board of Directors know how they should prioritize our advocacy to make Washington communities more welcoming.
