I’m Daniel, the US organizer with the BlackRock’s Big Problem campaign. Since we launched a few years ago, we’ve seen that grassroots activism and pressure can have a huge impact on BlackRock. We’ve seen wins they said were impossible, like getting BlackRock to drop coal and make climate commitments a central part of its brand identity. But as wildfires rage, flood waters rise and smoke fills the air, we need bolder action, faster. That’s why this fall we’re launching the next step in our efforts to escalate pressure on BlackRock: the BlackRock’s Big Problem Digital Activist Group.
Right now, we’re reaching out to a select group of more active folks from Stop the Money Pipeline to invite you to join this unique cohort as it gets off the ground. We really want to make sure the Digital Activist Group is a collaborative space where members get the chance to share ideas, provide input on programming, build community, and learn from each other. So, we’re starting small by asking a more limited number of people to join us, offer feedback, and help shape the group into what it will eventually be.
Here’s how you can get more deeply involved with the BlackRock’s Big Problem Campaign:
Fill out our interest survey and let us know what you’d be looking for out of a space like the digital activist group. We want to hear from you!
Join the BlackRock “Exit Fossil Fuels” Week of Action! We’re calling for in person actions on BlackRock when their employees return to the office Oct 1. We are hosting a planning call for organizers who want to plan an action at a BlackRock office or home of a top executive. Both calls are the same content, offered twice for your convenience.
It will take all of us working together to move a target like BlackRock, but the urgency of the climate crisis demands we rise to the challenge. If you have any questions, please let me know! You can reply to this email and I’ll do my best to answer them. Hope to see you in the streets or online in one of our community spaces soon.
In solidarity,
Daniel Jubelirer
