The Climate Strike was Successful! – Internationally 4 million strikers participated. Here in Wenatchee the strike was led by Wenatchee High School Students and supported by 350Wenatchee.org. Approximately 150 participants attended the rally at Wenatchee City Hall where the mayor ProTem, Mike Poirier, addressed what Wenatchee has been doing to become a Clean Energy City by 2035. Organizer and High School Student, Izzy Smith, made an impassioned speech about the need for climate justice. It was a hope inspiring event, thanks to all of you that participated.
As we participate in the Global Week of Climate Action, let’s remember who is funding climate chaos.
JPMorgan Chase has loaned $196 billion to fossil fuel companies since the Paris Agreement was signed in late 2015 — enough money to buy 52 pipelines the size and scale of the Dakota Access Pipeline. There’s no other way to put it: JPMorgan Chase is profiting from causing climate change, and it’s the rest of us who are paying for it.
Thursday – Sept. 26 – Attend the Wenatchee City Council Meeting and let them know that you support becoming a Clean Energy City by 2035.
Friday – Sept. 27 – Leavenworth Red Barn: “Ice on Fire” film starting at 4:30 pm
