 Did You Hear that “New Rules for Fossil Fuels” was put on Hold?

Note of Explanation: Thank you for your participation and interest in New Rules for Fossil Fuels! Hundreds of folks across the state have taken action to build a just, fossil-free Washington and it’s been incredibly exciting to be part of this campaign with you.

I am writing to let you know that the recently passed Climate Commitment Act, also known as the cap and trade program, includes language that is impacting this campaign. While policy experts clarify what comes next, the New Rules for Fossil Fuels campaign is on pause. So, the comment writing workshop that was scheduled for May 19th is postponed for the time being.

These things happen in our work. Even if we need to take a step back for now, we’re not going to lose the incredible momentum we’ve built so far!  I know I can count on this community to keep working together and win strong protections from fossil fuels once  we have clarity.

We will update you as soon as we have more information and details on the role that you can play. Thank you for your commitment to a cleaner future. We could not do this without you!
