Hey CATs! Hope everyone is having a nearly purr-fect week.

We have a big event this week (Legislative Advocacy Fair)! And some important updates from our CAT teams.

Legislative Education & Advocacy Fair this Thursday!

Join us January 25, 6:00 – 7:30pm (online, via zoom) for this special event!

  • Learn about the Washington State Legislative system and connect with awesome groups who are doing legislative advocacy work around the environment, climate, social justice, and more.

  • Co-hosted by the 350 WA Civic Action Team, Washington Conservation Action, The Lands Council, Transportation Choices Coalition, Climate Action Families, Audubon WA, UTOPIA WA, Environment WA, Save our Wild Salmon, The Nature Conservancy, Our Climate, and many more.

  • RSVP here!

Data/ops:

  • Check out CAT Week 2 Data Insights! This is a great document coalescing data we’re gathering throughout the session. Some highlights: compared to last year at this time, we have

  • 6% more activists on our email list

  • 34% more CATs who have completed at least one action

  • 62% more total legislator contacts!

  • Folks on this team are crunching CAT action taker feedback in real time and responding to tech support requests by creating demo videos, updating the Tally user experience and more!

Action email team:

  • The action email team is looking for more writers! This involves taking the Draft Actions in TAN and working on them to get them ready for publication. It is largely editing and making sure the content we publish online is well-written and straightforward.

  • Also recruiting 1-2 more volunteers to cross-train into the Survey Production Role. That’s creating the final action survey in our tool, Tally.

Comms:

  • Social media recap videos are🔥. Check out the latest one here. It got over 1.5K views on Instagram!

  • Check out the recording from Monday’s meeting here.

  • Team being responsive to feedback from bill trackers & email writers that there’s a lot going on right now! So tailoring projects to fit other team’s workflows and prioritizing ‘evergreen’ content that isn’t deadline driven.

Bill trackers:

  • This week, each policy area cohort presented on their completed equity filter worksheet – identifying key questions, considerations and actions they can center in their work this session to advance more equitable outcomes.

    • We didn’t record the meeting, but bill trackers received a follow up email from Jess with next steps! Check your inboxes and DM Jess on Slack (@JessWallach) if any questions.

  • Next week 👀 TAN training round 2! Bring all your questions and asks for support, we’ll review how to use TAN and make sure everyone is feeling resourced.

  • We will also plan for breakout time for our policy teams, so folks can connect directly with the folks in their policy area

Reminder for in-person lobby day opportunity this week!!

Lobby with Futurewise: Sharing an opportunity to participate in our partner Futurewise’s Connecting Communities Lobby Day this Thursday, 1/25. Futurewise is an important partner organization to 350WA as we follow their lead on many housing policies. They add a lot of value to our CAT spaces to keep us tuned into bills and policies to track, and in turn, we help them with visibility and getting these bills to the finish line with our people power. Organizing doesn’t work without these important cross-collaborations. Team up with Futurewise on this lobby day to show the strength CAT truly has! Please reach out to jordan@350seattle.org or claire@350seattle.org if you have any questions, and we can help connect you!

Community CAT Spotlight!

Say hello to Kazoo! Kazoo is ready to fiercely defend our beloved environment this legislative session and also knows how important it is to prioritize some rest during this busy time. Let’s all take notes from Kazoo! Thanks, Annie Dwyer for sharing 🙂 send claire@350seattle.org pictures of your cats!

Have a stellar week!
