Hello CAT Team!

We’ve got some CAT updates and teams updates this week!

Legislative Advocacy Fair a Big Success! Thank you very much to everyone who was a part of making our 2nd Annual Legislative Education & Advocacy Fair a wonderful success.

Team updates

Comms Team

  • Comms has a new legislation recap TikTok‼️💥! Check it out here (you don’t need a social media account to watch on the links below):

  • Our web presence is growing! Insta followers up by 10%, website views up 168% !!!

  • Comms team is also ready to make a video to talk about your bill!

    • Email ryan.driscoll@350seattle.org about your bill and it can either be (1) included in a video that talks about a few different bills or (2) if you think your bill deserves its own video, they could make a singular video!

Bill Tracker Team

  • Here’s a recording from our Monday 1/29 bill tracker meeting. Link here!

  • All eyes are on the legislative cutoff calendar. It’s do or die end-of-day this Wednesday, January 31st for bills to get out of their policy committee in their chamber of origin. This is followed quickly by another cut off end-of-day Monday, Feb 5 for bills to get out of the appropriate fiscal committee in their chamber of origin.

    • As a result, we’ll be emphasizing “turtles”🐢, the bills that haven’t gotten heard or voted out yet. This means that bill trackers should make draft actions for their turtle bills so we can help them gain visibility. Sweep🧹 the turtles🐢! It’s sort of like curling🥌.

  • Coming up this Thursday, we have our weekly bill tracking meeting to field questions and concerns about bills/TAN and everything bill tracking!

    • We plan to talk more about what to do about those turtle🐢 bills for our future cut off dates.

Action Email Team

  • Huge thank you to Emily and Sammy for responding to our call for more volunteers in this team! We are excited to crosstrain you both and to add more capacity on the publication end of things.

  • We can always use a few more helping hands during production on the weekend and on Tuesdays, so check out our Team’s Roles & Schedule and hop in to support this work! Some TAN skills required.

Data/Opps Team

  • Continuing to do the invaluable work of crunching our action-taking numbers for this legislative session. Keep checking the action alerts for updated stats!
