Jeanne —

On November 1st, the most important international climate talks since Paris will begin in Glasgow, Scotland. National leaders from around the world will gather to make new climate commitments, and major corporations will release new climate plans leading up to the talks.

That’s why 350 Seattle is joining with dozens of other organizations to launch a new campaign: Deadline Glasgow – Defund Climate Chaos.

Glasgow is a historic opportunity for the world to act on climate, but we know that we won’t see the kind of transformational policies we need ― unless there is a global movement powerful enough to hold governments and corporations accountable.

Along with our partners at Stop the Money Pipeline, we intend to use every day between now and Glasgow to build a people-powered campaign powerful enough to force Wall Street and the White House to defund climate chaos.

There are two things you can do to help the campaign get off to the best possible start.

  1. RSVP to the Campaign Kickoff Event on Tuesday, August 3rd at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.

At the campaign kickoff, we’ll take action together, learn from frontline organizers, and hear from Stop the Money Pipeline campaign organizers about how you can plug into the campaign. Speakers include Tara Houska of Giniw Collective, Kayah George of Indigenous Climate Action, Sharon Lavigne of RISE St. James, Representative Rashida Tlaib, and Bill McKibben.

  2. Sign the Deadline Glasgow Petition.

We plan to gather hundreds of thousands of signatures on the petition and then deliver it to thousands of insurance offices, bank branches, asset managers, pension fund offices, and federal offices in September.

In the coming weeks, we’re going to share many more ways for you to get involved in the campaign, but we hope you can take the first two steps with us today: RSVP for the Campaign Kickoff and sign the petition.

In solidarity,
Alec and the Stop the Money Pipeline team
