Dear allies of the Red, Black & Green New Deal,

Join us next Thursday, August 26th, at 11:00 am CT for our August National Allied Network Call. This month we will kick off a breakout series that will continue through the rest of the year and provide you the opportunity to step up and deepen your work with the RBGND Allied Network. You won’t want to miss the start of this collaborative series! The full agenda will be sent next week.

As many of you may know, August 29th marks sixteen years since Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast, immediately devastating entire communities and also causing reverberating effects that can still be felt today. Join the Red, Black & Green New Deal initiative on Sunday, August 29th as #WeRemember the communities impacted by the catastrophic storm, and honor the continued work toward a full and equitable recovery. Use our social media toolkit to share your support for the RBGND in its effort to engage more Black communities into this global fight for climate justice. Our collective voice is needed to honor and remember the resilience and resistance of the South and the communities impacted by Hurricane Katrina 16 years ago.
Join us Thursdays in Black August for the Just Transition Lawyering webinar series. The Just Transition Lawyering webinar series explains basic concepts of “just transition”, climate change, racial justice, economic justice and movement lawyering from the perspective of lawyers on the frontlines of the climate fights. This week’s Just Transition Lawyering webinar focuses on Equitable Disaster Planning & Recovery and features Gary Bledsoeof the NAACP ECJ Committee (Texas), Alegria De La Cruz of the Sonoma County Office of Equity (California), and Faye Mathews from the National Wildlife Federation (Louisiana).
The Red, Black & Green New Deal is seeking organizations to host RBGND Communications Fellows and Legislative Fellows. If you are unable to host a RBGND Fellow, please consider supporting these fellowship opportunities by funding a RBGND fellow. Contact the National Allied Network Coordinators at RBGNDAlliedNetwork@gcclp.org if you are able to host or fund a RBGND Fellow or if you have any questions.

Questions from Black-identified leaders, please reach out to valencia@m4bl.org or use this Black Leader form to join the RBGND Working Group.

In solidarity,
isaac, Mo & the RBGND Team
