Last month, Cowlitz County finished its review of the world’s largest fracked gas-to-methanol refinery, proposed for Kalama, Washington. Now, the Washington Department of Ecology has only ten days to approve or deny the massive refinery, which would use more gas than all of Washington’s industries combined.

We stand with Kalama residents to oppose this dirty fracked gas-to-methanol refinery. As part of Power Past Fracked Gas, we’ve delivered thousands of comments — and this spring, Governor Inslee finally announced his opposition, citing “the dwindling window for [climate] action and the significant methane leakage associated with gas production.” But the project could be green-lighted in as little as ten days.

Urge the Department of Ecology to deny the Shorelines Permit for the Kalama methanol refinery.

Together, we can stand up to dirty, climate-destabilizing fracked gas.

In solidarity,
Stacy, David, Hogan, & the rest of the Keep it in the Ground team
