It’s been an amazing few weeks since the Day of Action to Stop Dirty Banks. 3.21.23 was by all measures a remarkable moment for us to demonstrate the power, resolve, and spirit of Third Actors and our broader movement. We work hard to make those moments as loud as we can–they’re important, and they breathe so much life and passion into all of our efforts.
And after a deep breath and some rest we’re back at it, planning what’s next. Please join us on April 19, 2023 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET for our first All-In Call after the Day of Action.
You’ll hear about how our climate finance work can focus in the coming months around shareholder season (and how we can back up some amazing partners who showed up for us on 3.21.23) what’s next for our work to protect voting rights and expand access, and a preview of how we’ll harness all this new energy around the next phase of our work to decouple the Big Banks and Big Oil.
And you’ll get to see yourselves in action, taking a moment to acknowledge how Third Actors were front and center in the hearts of people across the country, recognizing perhaps for the first time how crucial older Americans will be in our shared fights for a just and abundant world. Thanks for being with us, and for all that you do–and will do!
In this country, there are two centers of power that can make a real difference in the climate fight: the federal government and the financial industry.
That’s why we’re so excited to team up with our friends at Stop the Money Pipeline and People vs Fossil Fuels for the Peoples’ Earth Week – Climate Justice Arts & Action.
Between April 15th and 25th, activists will organize mass wheat-pasting actions, pop-up art shows, and arts-centered direct actions on finance and government targets. If you’re tabling or showing up to an event on Earth Day, order some posters and bring them along – they can be used at tabling events, pasted on cardboard, walls, windows, fences, you name it!
Third Act and The Civics Center are co-hosting a senior-to-senior workshop to train Third Actors to be ambassadors who recruit and activate students and educators in high schools to organize school voter registration drives before graduation day as a key part of the Class of 2023 “Cap, Gown and Ballot Challenge.”
