TOMORROW, June 18 | 7:00 PM Eastern Time / 4:00 PM Pacific Time
What encouraged us most about this weekend’s No Kings demonstrations wasn’t just the enormous turnout—or the fact that older Americans made up such a visible part of the crowds across the country.
What stood out most was the question we heard again and again: “What do we do next?”
That’s exactly the question we’ll be answering on tonight’s All-In Call. Third Act is better prepared than most to offer concrete next steps—and we’ll be sharing some of them this evening.
We’ll of course continue taking to the streets––in fact, our special guest will be Denis Hayes, who in 1970, at the helm of Earth Day, organized one of history’s few protests larger than last weekend’s. He’ll have advice as we prepare for Sun Day in September.
But we’re also doing the day-in, day-out work of holding leaders accountable. We hope you’ll join the hundreds of Third Actors signed up to meet their Senators to make it clear how deeply unpopular the Big, Bad Budget Bill really is. (Polls suggest it may be the most disliked legislation in modern history.) The latest Senate draft pitched heartless new Medicaid cuts while still repealing the most important clean energy parts of the IRA. It’s nonsense to pose social services against clean energy––just another regressive trick to hide massive tax cuts for fossil fuels and billionaires.
And we’ll also be sharing updates from state and local campaigns—where exciting opportunities for real climate and democracy progress are unfolding, without waiting for Congress.
Saturday proved that Americans are ready to show up. Now, let’s make the most of that momentum.
