Roger Hallam was arrested this week and charged with criminal conspiracy because of his involvement with Just Stop Oil highway blockades. He has been remanded to prison; which means that he will be held in jail, without bail, until he makes an initial court appearance – at which time continued detention or release is decided by a judge. Roger’s first court appearance is scheduled for December 6th, 2022.

Everyone who is locked up appreciates words of support and love, including Roger.  Here’s what you can do:

1) Send him a letter or card

2) Send him an email through the UK’s “Email a Prisoner” App.

The UK allows emails to prisoners.  The link above explains how to do it, a process involving loading an app and paying 2p for each email (about 2.5 cents). It’s quite reasonable, far better than the mail provisions in most US jails. Keep in mind that the email will be printed out, reviewed by prison staff, and then delivered to Roger.

3) Send him an email at this temporary G-Mail Address established by Roger’s supporters in the UK: rogerremand@gmail.com.  For now, this may be the most effective and simple option. Again, keep in mind that your message will most likely be printed out and later delivered to Roger by prison staff. John utilized the third option on Friday morning.  He did not receive any problem notices from Gmail.

4) Support Roger’s Effort to Mobilize Effective Nonviolent Civil Resistance and Stop Climate Annihilation.
