Dear STMP friends,
Yesterday, Stop the Money Pipeline launched our first-ever monthly sustainer drive. Over the last 3.5 years, we’ve grown from a scrappy little outfit working toward a single mobilization to a coalition of 230+ organizations, 5 full-time staff, and 8 coalition workgroups. All of this means that our need to do a little fundraising to support our campaigns, workgroups, regranting programs and more has grown as well.
I know that many of you are busy building your own organizations and running your own hard-hitting campaigns, but if you can help us hit our goal of 100 new monthly sustainers by August 1st, we’d greatly appreciate it.

I’ve copied below a message from our Steering Committee, which helped kick off our monthly sustainer drive yesterday.

In Solidarity ✊❤

In January 2020, Stop the Money Pipeline launched as a coalition of 32 organizations. Since then, a lot has happened. We’ve organized major campaigns on the funders of Line 3, pushed shareholders to support climate action, galvanized hundreds of actions at bank branches and corporate headquarters, and grown to be over 200 organizations strong.

Today, we’re launching our first-ever monthly sustainer drive. We’ve set a goal of 100 new monthly donors by the end of this month.

Can you sign up to become one of Stop the Money Pipeline’s first-ever monthly donors and help us hit our goal of 100 donors by August 1st?

As the largest coalition dedicated to ending financing for fossil fuels in North America, we play a critical role in the fight for climate justice.

But all of the work that we do takes resources. Every year, we regrant at least 1/3rd of our budget to frontline groups and grassroots organizations. This year, we will grant around $500,000 to grassroots groups on the frontlines of the climate movement. We also have a small staff team of five people who work hard to keep this ship afloat.

Up until now, we have never asked our supporters to contribute financially to Stop the Money Pipeline. We’ve been lucky to have a few large foundations supporting our work. But we know that is not sustainable ― the most sustainable movements are the ones supported by the community, not just a few large donors.

That’s why we’re launching our Monthly Sustainer Drive: Fund Community Power / Fight Corporate Power.

Between now and August 1st, our goal is to have 100 supporters become our first-ever monthly donors.

Will you become a monthly donor and help us hit our goal?

As the Stop the Money Pipeline Steering Committee, we’re honored to support this coalition with setting its strategic direction and adopting its annual budget. Asking for money isn’t something we do often. But we know that it takes resources to sustain movements for the long-haul, which is why we’re reaching out today and asking you, if you are in a position to support our coalition in this way, please consider doing so.

In Solidarity,
– the Stop the Money Pipeline Steering Committee
