Yesterday in San Francisco activists took over one of Chase’s largest events of the year to make it clear: world destroyers don’t get to have positive PR events.

5,000 runners from over 500 companies, including hundreds of Chase employees, descended on downtown San Francisco for the “Chase Corporate Challenge” ― and activists were there to greet them in force. We were there to make one thing clear: banks funding fossil fuels will be called out everywhere they go.
Over the 3.5 mile race course, the 5,000 runners passed climate activist street theater groups; a giant Chase bank facade with an oil pipeline spewing oil out of the middle of the bank; and a Mr. Moneybags character throwing cash and splashing oil on the race course. The runners passed countless other banners and activists on the sidelines, including kayaktivists in the water holding banners aloft.
And when they finally got to the finish line, they were greeted with giant projections on the Chase Center and a 30 ft long banner with one simple message: Stop Funding Fossil Fuels.
