With Trump back in the White House, climate advocacy at the federal level feels very grim the next few years. But locally, we can still make a huge impact, which is why we are calling your attention to a proposed expansion of SeaTac airport.
The Port of Seattle wants input on its Environmental Assessment of a huge SeaTac Airport expansion that would add 19 new gates and 27% more flights. This expansion widens health inequalities from air and noise pollution and the climate pollution will threaten our future, but the Port’s EA calls those impacts “not significant” and that’s just not true! Tell the Port that the health and climate impacts should be addressed, not ignored.
If you want to learn more about this fight and want to meet members of our Aviation Team, next Monday, we are hosting a webinar and call to action:
No SeaTac Airport Expansion Webinar Health & Climate Call to Action
Mon. Nov 11, 6-7pm on Zoom.
Can’t make the webinar? There are plenty of other ways take action:
⭐ Sign the No Added Harm Letter of Concern– Sign On Today! This signature campaign that 350 is part of has already surpassed 2,000 signatures!
⭐ See the Fact Sheet – info about the expansion along with instructions on how to submit public comments before Dec 5th.
⭐ Submit Public Comments – use this easy online form that provides sample comments you can customize and submit. ✨
Members of the public can also attend a Port open house and comment in person there:
November 12 (Tuesday), 6-8PM, Wildwood Elementary School (Federal Way)
November 13 (Wednesday), 6-8PM, Mount Rainier High School (Des Moines)
November 14 (Thursday), 6-8PM, Highline High School (Burien)
November 16 (Saturday), 10-12AM, McMicken Heights Elementary (SeaTac)
RSVP to aviation@350seattle.org to tell us which open house you can attend. We are fighting for the communities who live under the airport’s smog and for the future that lives in the shadow of airplanes exhaust. We have a short window to mobilize before the public comment window ends on Dec. 5th. Please join us
Thank you,
Brandon, Laura and the whole Aviation Team 350 Seattle
