Hiya CAT Vols!
It’s so great to see all the hard work you’ve been putting into CAT as the legislative session has kicked off. A lot is going on, so here are a few things to keep on your radar.
CAT teams:
-
Bill trackers jumped right in with the start of session this week! Check out the recording from Monday’s call here to get up to speed on what and how we’re tracking bills this session.
-
The comms team is jamming on multiple projects, including educational content to share with CAT action takers, social media recruitment, and dialing up the CAT website. The team met Monday night to work on projects and land goals for this session, check out the recording here.
-
Data/ops is who you can thank for the easy to use and very fly looking weekly action tool! After months of hard work moving us to Tally (the new survey tool) and building up Take Action Network (TAN), the team threw down this week responding to user feedback and continuing to improve the platform.
-
The email action team brought it all together with the first action alerts of the session. Leading up to that, the team met on Tuesday to practice working with TAN, build out roles and create a schedule that will support this team all session.

Check out Tuesday’s meeting recording here.

Peer coaching
We just held our second Peer Coaching Training! For those of you who have taken the Peer Coaching training either in October or this recent January training, sign up to be a coach with the Peer Coaching Pool here! We are officially launching the pilot on Monday 1/15.
Community connections
MLK Day March: CAT volunteers are warmly invited to join 350 Seattle for this Monday’s MLK Day March in Seattle. We’ll be out in the streets with lots of art – march with us and/or hold a beautiful banner! We’ll be gathering at the grass by the Garfield High School sign at 11:30 am and will start marching by 12:30 pm. RSVP & get plugged into our day-of communications by emailing Meg.
-
The event is hosted by the Seattle MLK Jr. Coalition (be sure to check out their website for other great events happening online & in person leading up to the march).
Lobby with Futurewise: Sharing an opportunity to participate in our partner Futurewise’s Connecting Communities Lobby Day on 1/25. Futurewise is an important partner organization to 350WA as we follow their lead on many housing policies. They add a lot of value to our CAT spaces to keep us tuned into bills and policies to track, and in turn, we help them with visibility and getting these bills to the finish line with our people power. Organizing doesn’t work without these important cross-collaborations. Team up with Futurewise on this lobby day to show the strength CAT truly has! Please reach out to jordan@350seattle.org or claire@350seattle.org if you have any questions, and we can help connect you!
