We are in a climate emergency. There has never been more urgency to end the era of fossil fuels. President Biden has the tools to consistently reject fossil fuel projects – yet he’s been greenlighting mega-polluting oil and gas projects left and right.

But Biden answers to us. This year, we have a key opportunity to remind him of that fact. That’s why we’re taking action this summer across the U.S., leading up to the Climate Ambition Summit in New York this September, where we’ll put Biden on the hot seat and demand bolder action to lead us off fossil fuels. We’re mobilizing now to turn up the heat like never before and make Biden end the era of fossil fuels — and we need you with us!

Biden promised to be a climate president – yet under his watch, the U.S. continues to be the biggest producer of oil and gas in the world. His administration has approved new oil and gas projects, like the Willow oil drilling project in Alaska and multiple oil and gas export terminals in the Gulf. Frontline communities & global scientists have been abundantly clear – we cannot avoid the very worst impacts of the climate crisis if we allow for any more fossil development.

The pressure to end the era of fossil fuels is growing. Millions of people took action online to #StopWillow, an unprecedented level of public opposition to a fossil fuel project that the administration was not expecting. There is growing outrage over Biden’s climate hypocrisy, and global recognition that we need to take action to phase out fossil fuels to have any hope of a livable future.

This year, we have a key opportunity to turn up public pressure on Biden to take bold action to end the era of fossil fuels – and stop the sacrifice of our communities and planet to the greed of Big Oil & Gas.

In September of this year, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is hosting a global Climate Ambition Summit in New York City where the “ticket to entry” is tangible action to keep fossil fuels in the ground. Our actions this June will lay the groundwork for a summer of escalation leading up to the Summit in New York.
