Puget Sound Energy’s Tacoma LNG Project is NOT in the public interest Last week, we held the People vs. PSE, a people’s hearing where we brought charges against Puget Sound Energy (PSE). The jury was unanimous in finding PSE guilty. Now, we need you to Right now, PSE needs approval from the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) to finalize a contract with their affiliate company (Puget LNG) to begin operating their LNG facility on the Tacoma Tideflats in May — months before the Puyallup Tribe and environmental organizations challenging the facility will receive a decision on their appeal, which could invalidate PSE’s permits and prohibit the facility from operating. This is a huge opportunity to delay Tacoma LNG from turning on. Send a note to the UTC today! We know this facility endangers our health, safety, and climate, threatening Indigenous, Brown, and Black bodies first and worst. The Puyallup Tribe is steadfast in their opposition to the facility and our community continues to follow their leadership and to fight with them. The UTC has the ability to amend this contract to ensure it is in the public interest. The UTC needs to hear from the public that they must delay the operation of the facility and conduct an investigation to determine whether the contract between PSE and Puget LNG serves the public interest. Tell the UTC: PSE LNG is NOT in the public interest. Our day in court is fast approaching and there’s lots to do…
