Dear Jeanne,

Today, we formally requested that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reconsider and withdraw its approval of the GTN Xpress fracked gas expansion project. By law, FERC has 30 days to respond.

The GTN Xpress project would allow TC Energy to push more fracked gas through an aging pipeline system in the Northwest. FERC approved GTN Xpress in October, despite opposition from a broad coalition and nine members of Congress. GTN Xpress would cause at least 3.47 million tons of greenhouse gas pollution each year while increasing pipeline safety risks in nearby communities.

Attorneys from Crag Law Center, Earthjustice, and Columbia Riverkeeper filed the petition for rehearing on behalf of Columbia Riverkeeper and Rogue Climate. You can read our press release here.

Thank you for keeping up the fight against GTN Xpress, and we appreciate the work of dozens of coalition partners who continue to push back against fracked gas expansion in the Northwest. We are doing our best to make sure FERC hears these voices and takes them seriously.

You can make a difference by supporting Columbia Riverkeeper now. We urgently need your support to take this fight to the next level. Every dollar counts towards safeguarding our communities and environment. Please give what you can!

Onward,
Dan Serres
Advocacy Director
