Jeanne —

108 degrees. That’s how hot it got last year in Seattle on June 28th, the peak of the deadly heat dome.

We’re marking the anniversary of this tragic day by showing up in force at City Hall and demanding that city leaders take action and uphold their commitment to move all city buildings off of fossil fuels by 2035.

Join us.

Right now, through our Healthy Through Heat and Smoke campaign, 350 Seattle’s Green New Deal team is fighting to ensure that the city’s upcoming Parks Levy is used to upgrade all of Seattle’s community centers so they run entirely on clean energy, and can provide accessible shelter with clean and cool air during heat and smoke events.

We are demanding that these upgrades happen first in communities most impacted by pollution and disinvestment, and that they are done with a community workforce agreement to ensure they create pathways to good union jobs for local residents.

We are fighting to win this campaign this summer and build momentum and power for even greater climate action, but exactly how much of this we can win depends on how many people like YOU get involved and join us in pressuring our elected officials to act.

Can you mark your calendar and make a plan to show up outside city hall from 6:30-8 PM on Tuesday June 28th for a creative and participatory rally to demonstrate mass community support for these demands?

Better yet can you invite your friends and share the action on social media?

We hope to see you there!

In solidarity,
Andrew with 350 Seattle’s Green New Deal Team.

PS Want to get involved in the campaign before the action? Join us for a campaign orientation and welcome call tonight from 6-7 on zoom to get plugged in — or sign up for a one on one orientation with a member of our campaign welcome team!

You can also join us this Saturday or Sunday from 12-4 at Fremont Powerhouse for an outdoor art build for the heatwave anniversary action AND the upcoming June 18th Solstice parade where we will participate with an epic Green New Deal float.

We hope to see you soon!
