If you have been wondering what the perfect holiday gift to get us over here at Stop the Money Pipeline is… wonder no longer! Today, we just launched our first-ever year-end fundraising drive. 💰💰 Our goal is to raise $10,000 from personal donations by Dec 31st. 💰💰

As our coalition partners, your time, energy, and participation are all much more important than any monetary contributions that you might be able to make. However, if you are in a position to make a financial contribution to support our work as we approach the end of the year, we would greatly appreciate your support. I’ve copied below the email launching the drive that we just sent to our list.

Here at Stop the Money Pipeline, we’re going up against not one, but two of the most powerful industries on earth: the fossil fuel industry and the financial industry. It’s no surprise that we’re pissing off some powerful people.

In 2023, Republicans introduced 165 bills in 37 states designed to attack financial institutions that have taken small steps on climate. Since this backlash began our campaigns have faced serious headwinds: BlackRock has reneged on its climate commitments, the Net Zero Insurance Alliance has collapsed, and major banks have pledged fealty to fossil fuels.

Yet, ironically, the backlash to our work is also a sign that we’re winning. The only reason that fossil fuel interests are attacking our work is that they know that we’re effective.

Between 2019 and 2022, every major US bank made promises to reduce their financing of oil and gas, countless insurance companies made climate commitments, and investors started to signal they were getting serious about the climate crisis. That’s why the oil and gas industry is unleashing its lobbyists, politicians and PR machine against us.

But we’re not going to let climate deniers and Big Oil executives win. In 2024, we’re going to double down on our strategy. Focusing on the banks financing fossil fuels, we’re going to shut down their headquarters with mass protests, pressure the banks’ most important clients, mobilize their largest investors, and fight tooth-and-nail for regulation to end financing for fossil fuels.

We need to raise $10,000 by December 31st to start 2024 as strong as possible. Can you make a donation today to help us hit our goal? Whether you’re able to contribute $5 or $500, every cent you donate will be put to work ending financing for fossil fuels, as swiftly as possible.

We’ll never have as much money at our disposal as Wall Street, but we have a much more beautiful vision of the world we want to live in and tens of thousands of people ready to fight to bring that vision into reality. Together, we can win a better future for everyone.
