On Earth Day, April 22, 2021, XRA’s 23-year-old Nick Vazquez begins an 800-mile climate pilgrimage on foot across Florida. This is his message to us:

“I’m mad as hell. I’m done waiting around, so I’m walking 800 miles — from Miami to Tallahassee — to sound the alarm across Florida about the climate emergency. There’s no turning back. Criminal government inaction and greedy corporate self-interest have trashed the futures of my generation. We may be the last — but we won’t take it lying down.”

Nick realizes that his generation is the last to be able to stop climate collapse. He’s calling for the people of the Earth to rise up to form powerful, multi-generational communities of loving, nonviolent resistance to strengthen our resilience and help us adapt to the coming collapse.

Nick is the first Climate Pilgrim but there will be millions more working together to mitigate the harm we now face. Nick is embarking on this extraordinary journey because he knows his generation was born for this moment in history.

On Sunday, April 18 at 1 PM Pacific, Nick — just four days before he begins his Climate Pilgrimage — will join Roger Hallam on a 1-hour live Zoom call to spread the word about Nick’s amazing upcoming journey and the brave actions that youth around the world are taking today on the climate emergency.
