“I love Costco, but I love my grandkids more.” – Harriet Lankford, Third Act Florida volunteer.
Just a few weeks ago, we launched the Costco: Clean Up Your Credit Card campaign. This campaign is on a roll, almost 25,000 folks have now asked Costco to take action – woah. We are that much closer to getting the third largest retailer in the country to make a positive step towards a cleaner future by dropping dirty Citibank as its credit card partner.
Costco members have a special voice. We have 4,500 Costco members signed on, but we are going to need many more Costco members speaking up in order to get Costco’s attention.
Costco will only act if Costco members take action. That’s why we need you to show up outside your local Costco warehouse asking members to sign on to the petition.
You will not do this alone. We will be giving you everything you need to have a successful petitioning event. We will be providing a robust toolkit with all the materials and information you need. We will be hosting “Coaching and Conversation” office hours where you can stop by and ask questions, problem solve, share ideas with other folks who are petitioning, and more. And, while Costco warehouses are great places to find Costco members and to show Costco that our campaign is alive and well, we’ll also give you some ideas of other great places to petition, too.
It’s going to take your leadership for us to win. This campaign is going to require collective individual action in order for Costco to change. Your action and getting Costco members to sign on and use their voice and their power to put pressure on Costco will make a significant impact.
