A few weeks ago, our friends at the Stop the Money Pipeline coalition launched a new campaign: Costco: Clean Up Your Credit Card. Already, more than 25,000 people have joined the campaign, urging Costco to drop Citibank, the world’s second-largest funder of fossil fuels, as its credit card partner.
Why Costco? With an annual revenue of $242 billion, Costco is the third-largest retailer in the country – and it’s headquarters are in Issaquah. Costco is an important client for Citibank―one of its most important. If we can get Costco to join the fight to end financing for fossil fuels, it will make a huge difference.
Costco will only act if Costco members take action. That’s why people around the country are starting to petition outside of Costco stores, engaging thousands of Costco members in conversations about the campaign. So far, nearly 5,000 Costco members have joined the call―but we need those numbers to grow massively.
On the call, you’ll be provided with everything you need to jump headfirst into the campaign, including petitioning materials, coaching, support, advice, and more.
