Protect Coos Bay from LNG!

Jeanne

The dirty fracked gas industry wants to take away our climate, clean air and water victories by flooding our region with dangerous new fracked gas infrastructure. The industry is trying to derail your hard-fought climate victories by forcing us into decades more fossil fuel infrastructure in the form of new gas pipelines, fracked gas power plants, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and methanol exports.

A critical comment period open right now on the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline and it needs all the backing of the Thin Green Line to weigh in.

We won’t sit back and let the fracked gas industry spoil our climate victories. New fracked gas infrastructure projects, like the Jordan Cove Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export terminal in the town of Coos Bay, Oregon are just as damaging and dangerous as the projects we have been able to stop before. If built, Jordan Cove would pollute over 15 times the amount of climate pollution from Oregon’s only remaining coal plant, set to close in 2020 because of climate and air pollution concerns.

Senator Jeff Merkley opposed the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and Pacific Connector pipeline in 2017. He stated “…I cannot turn away from the knowledge that, like other large-scale fossil fuel projects, Jordan Cove will contribute massively to pollution that is profoundly damaging our state and our world. Generations from now, our grandchildren will wonder why we continued to burn fossil fuels when the catastrophic consequences were so evident.”
We agree with Senator Merkley. We can’t stand aside and let a massive fossil fuel export terminal proceed. We will stand up and hold the Thin Green Line against coal, oil, and dirty fracked gas.

Please submit your comment opposing the Jordan Cove LNG terminal and Pacific Connector Pipeline today.

Thank you,
