Jeanne –

In just a few days, we will be saying our final goodbyes to May Boeve as the Executive Director of 350.org.

It will not be just another day — it will be a significant milestone in the journey of 350 and our role in supporting the movement fighting for climate justice. And it is a testament to May’s exceptional leadership in how well she has prepared us for this moment.

I will be taking on the role of Interim Executive Director as we search for the next outstanding leader in this defining time for 350 and the wider movement. It is an incredible honor to be taking over the baton from May, our Founder Executive Director, and I shall be holding it with the care and responsibility it deserves before I pass it onto the next leader.

While many of us here at 350 are sad to say our goodbyes to May, we are also excited to welcome some new faces on our Executive Team. I’d like you to get to know all of us on the team.

Meet the 350 Executive Team

Sonia Kwami: Head of Campaigning and Organizing — new member

Hello! My name is Sonia Kwami and I am one of the newest members to the 350.org Executive Team. I am based in Ghana and with over two decades of experience supporting teams in more than 60 countries, especially in the Global South. I am excited to leverage my strong leadership skills to steer 350.org‘s teams responsible for training, network and partnership building, and global online and offline campaigning.

Savio Carvalho: Head of Regions — new member

Hey there, my name is Savio Carvalho and I’m originally from India and currently living in the Netherlands. I have worked with human rights, development and campaigning organizations for over two decades and across several countries in four continents. My belief that climate justice is a basic human right translates into my leadership over 350.org‘s department responsible for aligning and empowering our local work across the globe. As one of the newest members to the 350.org Executive Team, I’m excited to be meeting with climate activists from around the globe who are doing the important work to take on the fossil fuel industry.

Nama Chowdhary: Head of Public Engagement — with 350 since 2021

Hello, my name is Namrata (Nama) Chowdhary and I’ve been here at 350.org for three years. I’m an experienced advocacy strategist, systems thinker, and facilitator. I was born in India but currently live in the UK, and have spent over two decades telling powerful stories, and bringing people together to form strong alliances around intersecting environmental and social justice causes. As the Head of 350.org‘s Public Engagement department, I love that my job title abbreviates as ‘HoPE’.

Rob Saunders: Head of Operations — with 350 since 2021

Hiya! My name’s Rob Saunders and I’ve been with 350 for three years. For more than two decades I’ve been helping civil society organizations to strategically manage their resources and I’ve built a long-standing path as an activist through my work with humanitarian non-profits. I’m based in the UK, and lead 350.org‘s department responsible for organizational health and security.

Olivia Langhoff (me, the person writing you this email!): Managing Director — with 350 since 2015

I grew up in Germany and worked in South Africa, UK, and Switzerland before settling in the Netherlands. My experience as a campaigner and activist spans over three decades and on issues connected to human rights, environmental protection and the climate crisis — combining accurate strategic vision and intentional transversality on 350’s leadership.

Over the last few months, our Executive Team has been strategizing on how we will lead the renewable energy transformation around the globe — from community level to national policies to financing the energy transition worldwide. We are excited about our work with communities around the world, leading up to a major global moment for the climate movement in Brazil during COP30 in 2025 — the International Climate Conference that will determine the future of our planet.

Jeanne, you’ve been a part of 350.org‘s journey since June, 2011, and I thought you might like to extend your personal wishes too.

If you have one extra minute, please send your personal goodbye to May Boeve and share what issues are most important to you as we enter this exciting new phase for the organization.

Your opinion really matters to us, especially now as we are designing some powerful plans that could be truly game changing.

I believe wholeheartedly that together we can defeat the fossil fuel industry once and for all, lead the transition to 100% renewables around the globe, and protect our planet for future generations. Some people might say it’s impossible — but achieving the impossible is what 350.org has always done. I could not be more proud working with and for you.

With much appreciation to you all for your hard work, dedication and commitment to climate justice.

Thank you for being part of our community,

Olivia Langhoff
Managing Director
350.org

A quick P.S. from May Boeve

I want to add my own message to celebrate Olivia stepping into the Executive Director role. We have been working together side by side for five years and our partnership is one of the things I will miss most. There is no one better to lead our movement in this next phase of our transition and indeed leading us in a time of transformative work in the world.

One last thing… I’m not sure about you, but I watched a lot of the Olympics this year. My daughter was out of school so we had more time on our hands. My favorite event was the relay, watching how one runner gives it their absolute best, and keeps running alongside the next runner as they take the baton and surge forward. That is how I feel about what Olivia and I are doing in this final month, finding our feet each step of the way.

Yours,

May Boeve
