OUR ASK: Speak up! Tell the WSIB you don’t want our state pension invested in fossil fuels or fossil fuel infrastructure. Explain why it is important to you personally (or to your organization) to not fund big coal, oil, and gas projects, and not worsen climate chaos. The board has a fiduciary responsibility to state employees, pensioners, and all who want to have a sustainable livable future.
WSIB takes public comment at their monthly meeting. Written and oral (in-person or virtually) comments are accepted. Of course we’d love to see you providing oral comment, but even a single sentence written comment is valuable as the board members do read them and the CEO tracks the total comments received. THANK-YOU!!!
The December WSIB meeting will be held at 9:30 am (PT) on Thursday Dec 12. The agenda is at:https://www.sib.wa.gov/docs/
· To provide an oral comment notify WSIB by emailing recep@sib.wa.gov no later than 9:30 am (PT) on Tuesday December 10th. Include “Oral comment for the December 12 board meeting” (or equivalent) in subject line. In the body of the email, provide your full name and indicate whether you plan to appear in-person or virtually. Generally attendees are provided 3 minutes to make a comment, but that can change based on the number in attendance.
· To submit a written comment email it to recep@sib.wa.gov no later than 9:30 am (PT) on Tuesday December 10th. Include “Written comment for December 12 board meeting” (or equivalent) in subject line. Be sure to provide your full name. It is also helpful to indicate if you are a state employee or receiving a pension managed by WSIB. (I copied and pasted the address into my email.)
NOTE:This deadline is new! Written comments are now due 48 hours before the start of the WSIB meeting.
