Taking our power back: Puget Sound Energy, fossil fuels, and creating a clean and healthy energy future As the state’s largest energy utility, PSE provides fossil gas & electric services to almost 2M homes in Washington — & over the next couple of years could determine the state’s success in transitioning to clean energy. PSE spends more on lobbying and campaign contributions annually than Amazon, plays a large role in pro-fossil gas advertising campaigns, and is actively holding back the transition to renewable energy. Wednesday, February 17th 6 – 7:30pm Protecting Culture and Tribal Treaty Rights This important event will be focused on the treaty rights history and impact on the Puyallup Tribe, as well as the disproportionate impacts of fossil fuels on communities of color. You will hear from Puyallup Tribal members who have been leaders in the fight to protect their homelands. Sunday, February 21st 1:00 – 3:00pm New Rules for Fossil Fuels: Protecting WA Communities We have a BIG opportunity in 2021 to finally get ahead of industry proposals and advocate for strong protections against climate-wrecking fossil fuels! We know that coal, oil and fracked gas wreak havoc on our climate, put our health and safety at risk, and target harm on low-income communities of color. The Department of Ecology is developing a new rule on evaluating fossil fuel projects. Come learn about how climate, health and justice are connected in this process and what you can do to help!
