Protect Funding for
Climate Solutions in WA State Budget
Urge your Washington state legislators to keep standing up for climate action and vote for a final budget that ensures Climate Commitment Act funds are used for their intended purposes, and not raided to address a budget deficit.
As Third Act Washington supporters, we are asking you to write your state legislators TODAY and urge them to stay strong and protect Climate Commitment Act funding in the final state budget! The Washington State House and Senate will vote on the budget soon so your action now is vital.
In 2021, legislators passed the Climate Commitment Act (CCA) to reduce pollution, invest in climate solutions, and secure a clean energy future by making polluters pay. This landmark climate law generates state funding to support real and tangible climate action that benefits Washington’s communities. Just last year, voters of all political stripes in Washington state overwhelmingly defeated the ballot initiative that would have overturned the Climate Commitment Act.
In the current Senate and House budget proposals, we see CCA dollars continue to be used for their intended purposes and not diverted to the General Fund to address budget shortfalls.
Write to your state legislatorstoday: urge them to keep standing up for climate action and vote for a final budget that ensures CCA funds are used for their intended purposes, and not raided to address a budget deficit.
We need CCA dollars to be invested in reducing dangerous climate pollution. Washingtonians have no time to waste — we need climate action now to protect our communities from growing climate extremes, air pollution, wildfires, and other climate impacts.
As older Americans, we Third Act Washington members care about creating a healthy future for coming generations.
