We’ve called on you before to convince insurance giants to stop supporting the destructive Trans Mountain tar sands pipeline expansion (TMX) in Canada. Because of people power, 18 insurance companies have publicly cut ties with the Trans Mountain pipeline.

But one of the biggest insurers remains: Liberty Mutual. Right now, Liberty and the other likely remaining insurers of Trans Mountain are deciding whether or not to renew their contracts for the pipeline company – and they have until August 31 to make that choice.

So we’re ramping up pressure on Liberty Mutual by flooding social media with photo messages urging Liberty executives to drop TMX. Can you take action in solidarity with the fight to stop Trans Mountain by joining the social media action?

Here’s how to participate:

1. Find a piece of paper or cardboard and write the message “Liberty, Drop Trans Mountain” and add your location – city or country – on the bottom right.
2. Take a photo of yourself with the sign.

The Trans Mountain expansion spells disaster for Indigenous rights and the climate. It’s no wonder that eighteen insurers and counting have publicly confirmed they want nothing to do with this disastrous project, but we can’t let up the pressure until Trans Mountain can’t find insurance anywhere.

To shift some of the largest insurers like Liberty Mutual, we have to demonstrate that our opposition is even bigger and more powerful than ever before. Let’s make it impossible for Trans Mountain to find insurance. Starting now.
