Power up the Movement
We are having fundraising challenges in 2025 – especially as national funders pivot away from climate advocacy in response to direct or perceived pressure from the Trump administration. Inspired by movements past and present, we’re launching a Membership Model: a form of grassroots fundraising where members contribute monthly dues. A Membership Model will be key to sustaining our work – and to stay rooted in community power, accountable to our base, and less reliant on large foundations.
We’re ramping up our efforts to educate legislators, board members, and public sector union leaders about the dire climate financial risks and need for pension fund action and demanding that our public officials take action. We need YOU to move this campaign forward. Join our biweekly campaign meetings
Get in touch with Andrew if you have any questions or ideas.
June Climate Community Night
Climate Community Night is the monthly time when community members–from long-term volunteers to newly engaged activists to climate curious folks–come together to eat, build community, and take action together. On June 5th, you and yours are invited to join us for an evening of Artful Activism.
The 350 Seattle Artful team is an easy and rewarding way to get involved in movement work, so we’re centering Climate Community Night around an art build! Join us to strengthen community, learn more about the role of art in climate activism, and create artwork for our Immigration is Beautiful Summer Solstice Parade ensemble on June 21st!
Can’t make Climate Community Night? You can still sign up for a parade role here! We need 100+ people to spread the message that “Immigration is Beautiful” to tens of thousands of parade observers!

Join our Climate X Worker Organizer Cohort
As we head into summer with global temperatures already hitting record highs, we’re thinking hard about how to protect our loved ones from heat waves and wildfire smoke. There’s so much Seattle could – and should – be doing to transition off fossil fuels and build climate resilience. But upgrading our city for cooling and clean air won’t happen unless you and your friends, neighbors and co-workers organize together to demand our public buildings are ready to keep us healthy through heat and smoke!
Do you want to connect with other people who care about climate justice? Are you excited about building climate-worker power? Do you want to learn how to run strategic campaigns to push our schools, libraries, community centers, affordable housing and other public institutions to be climate resilient and fossil-fuel free?
Then join the Climate/Worker Organizing Cohort! A 3-month organizing skill-up combining learning and action, with a focus on tangible things we can do right now to start upgrading our city for cooling and clean air.
Ready to sign up, or want to learn more? Fill out this short form and an organizer will be in touch!
Led by seasoned grassroots organizers and labor leaders who share a passion for climate justice and intersectional organizing, the Climate/Worker Organizing Cohort will meet every other Tuesday from 6-8pm at the 350 Seattle office in the University District. The first session is July 8.
Policy Action Team
Join the Policy Action Team every Friday in front of the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building, 915 2nd Ave, from 11:30 am-1:30 pm for Federal Building Fridays to rally, chant, sing and speak. This rally is every week to show solidarity with federal workers and every vulnerable group scapegoated by the Trump administration, and each week a different set of issues is highlighted.
At last Federal Building Fridays, Selden asked that the crowd call our senators to demand that they oppose this horrible bill, and we hope you do the same! Please call Senator Murray (Seattle: 206 553 5545, DC: 202 224 2621) and Senator Cantwell’s (Seattle: 206 220 6400, DC: 202 224 3441) office with this message:
“I am calling to ask Senator ______ to hold the line and oppose the entire budget bill. All Democratic Senators have said that they support the IRA—here are just a few reasons why you should continue defending it:
The consumer IRA tax credits eliminated in this budget drive consumer spending that supports 240,000 jobs—from those who install clean energy technology on our homes, to those who manufacture it, to the local economies they fuel.
The clean energy incentives at play here allow Americans to unlock thousands of dollars in annual savings on their energy bills while supporting a more stable and resilient grid amid rising energy demand. Killing these tax credits will raise energy prices and take money out of the pockets of working families.”
The Policy Action Team meets the first Wednesday of every month at 5pm. To find out more and take more actions, please join our next meeting, June 4th at 5 pm. To get the Zoom link, sign up for our listserv. Or, email either Beth or Linnea.
Climate Grief & Empowerment
How are you feeling these days? Are you even letting yourself feel? Or is it too big to process? The good news is that the experience of emotional overwhelm is a shared reality, and we can continue to act from a grounded place when we process these experiences together.
Consider joining us for the next Climate Grief and Empowerment Group, where we process our climate-related emotions in community. We meet monthly on every second Saturday. Drawing from Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects, we’ll engage in collective practices that deepen our capacity for dwelling with difficult emotions and strengthen our strategies for coping in uncertain times.
Our upcoming Climate Grief and Empowerment Group Monthly Gatherings are:
Saturday, June 14th, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am, and Saturday, July 12th, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am.
We welcome adults (18+) for as many or as few meetings as you would like! The Climate Grief and Empowerment Group is co-sponsored by350 Seattle and Climate Action Families, out of the recognition that ongoing emotional support plays a critical role in building community resilience and robust social movements.
The Aviation Team
The Aviation Team had a picnic for our June meeting, so our next online meeting will be on July 8 at 7 pm. Please join us then to find out about upcoming policy work and other interesting ways to be involved. Or you can contact Laura.
The 350 Seattle Book Club
As the summer approaches, the book club is shifting gears to focus on some more optimistic topics! After all, an important part of our work as organizers for change is to help people envision a better world and alternative ways of organizing our communities and societies. To assist in this, we will be exploring Utopian thoughts and Solar Punk stories this summer. In June, we will be reading Everyday Utopia by Kristen Ghodsee. This book pulls from utopian ideas from many different traditions and places around the world to help us imagine different ways we can provide housing, education, and community. Check out the schedule below to join us for one of these discussions! In July and August, we will be reading Sunvault: Stories of Solarpunk and Eco-Speculation. This collection of short stories will help us explore positive visions of a sustainable future where we live in balance with nature.
As we hit the summer, we will move some of our in-person discussions to Cal Anderson Park. We will also aim to continue offering online options for those who prefer not to meet in-person. All meetings are from 2:30-4:30 on Sundays. To sign up for the book club weekly emails, use this link!
The Anti-War X Climate Team
Across the country and around the world, understanding of the intersection of climate and war/militarism is growing. Join the 350 Seattle Anti-War x Climate Collective workgroup(AWxCC)! We meet every 4th Wednesday, 6:30-7:30 and communicate via Signal. Reach out to AWxCC co-leaders Aedan or Maryfor more information on the Signal group, the monthly Zoom meeting, or to sign up for the twice-montly newsletter published by the Seattle Anti-War Coalition, which 350 Seattle is a member of – focused on local action.
Speaking of local actions, how do you feel about the Blue Angels that fly over South Seattle and the King County International Airport at the end of Seafair every year? Impressive but maybe a little bit too Noisy? Offensive spewing of poison in a time of genocide? Join 350 Seattle and many organizations in the Airshow Climate Action Campaign in demanding Seafair and the City of City “Reimagine Seafair – without the Blue Angels!” Save the dates Friday, August 1 and Saturday August 2 to join this year’s protests, which will likely include a peaceful, musical and forceful (satyagraha) march around Genesee Park (TBC) ahead of the late-afternoon air show. Details in the July issue of the 350 Seattle newsletter!
With far-right fascism on the rise, it’s more important than ever that we’re skilled up to organize effective protests and resistance. So, we’re excited to share that our friends at Troublemakers are organizing a Nonviolent Direct Action training on Sunday, June 8th. The training is from 3-6PM and will be an invigorating and interactive introduction to the safety, planning, and essential skills needed for doing effective nonviolent direct action. RSVP here for more details.

World Anti-Cruise Day
Join Seattle Cruise Control, Climate Action Families, Extinction Rebellion, Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility, International Council for Human Rights in the Philippines, and South Seattle Climate Action Network at Myrtle Edwards Park from 11am – 1pm. (About a 10min walk north of Sculpture Park along the Elliot Bay Trail.)
This family-friendly event will include music, food, art, kayaktivists, speakers, and engaging people using the Elliot Bay Trail through fliers and short interviews about the impacts of the cruise industry and the dangers involved with Port of Seattle considering adding another new cruise terminal.
Communities all over the world are pushing back on this toxic and exploitative industry! From passing initiatives to limit ships and passengers, to charging passengers a fee used to counter environmental damages, to fighting expansion efforts, and banning cruise advertising–resistance takes on many forms. Show up June 7th for this global day of solidarity!
