Welcome to summer! The sun is shining, it’s not smoky, and the raspberries are here.
We are in the midst of our membership drive. One of the best parts of this drive is the outpouring of love and support we have received from our community. Special shoutout to Ms. Chadwick’s 3rd grade SPIN program class who raised money for us as part of their final class project, and to the Blue Hour Theatre Group! Thank you so much for the support; it means so much to us.
We have extended our membership drive to meet our goal of–you guessed it– 350 members. If you want to help us power up Seattle’s Climate Justice Movement, become a member today.
Ms. Chadwick’s class sent us a handwritten note!
If you want to learn more about what our members are up to, read on! 350 Seattle’s office are closed for summer holiday until next Monday. Take care everybody.
Related to this campaign, our friends at Stop the Money Pipeline, Oil and Gas Action Network, Troublemakers and a host of other great groups are calling on T-mobile to drop their contract with Starlink. Sign the petition is you agree!
Stop the Steal!
Wait, what? Yup! Trump 2.0 and their Congressional allies are going whole hog in an attempt to privatize public land. Yes, the senate parliamentarian put the kibosh on Sen. Mike Lee’s first attempt, but he’s coming back, trying to sell millions of acres of BLM land while claiming ‘affordable housing’ as a laughable fig leaf of cover. Yes, five Republican representatives are on record opposing this egregious land grab, but this isn’t over until a budget is signed without a massive land give-away — so please personalize this letter to your congress-people.
And then there’s the administration’s attempt torepealthe Roadless Rule that protects vital climate assets like Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. What can you do? Use this roadless rule toolkit to tell your legislators to stop this attempt to degrade public lands — and then share the toolkit with family and friends, especially out of state.
July Climate Community Night
Climate Community Night is the monthly time when community members–from seasoned volunteers to climate curious folks–come together to eat, build community, and take action together. You and yours are invited to join us for a taste of summer:
Potluck Picnic at Pratt Park
July 10, 2025 Pratt Park in the Central District! RSVP here
We’ve reserved the picnic tables for eating. People can also play in the spray park, lounge on the grass, and pick up a game or two (to that end, you are encouraged to bring a frisbee, soccer ball, or whatever you’d like!). We also invite you to share your favorite summer potluck item–you can bring a dish your grandma would make, or in a less nostalgic vein, test out some new summer recipe on us!
This is a family friendly event; all ages welcome! There’s a great playground at Pratt Park for the kiddos!
If you’re new, you can also attend a new volunteer orientation before the picnic to learn more about 350 Seattle and how to plug in. Here’s the order of the evening:
6:15-6:45PM: New Volunteer Orientation at the Picnic Tables in Pratt Park 6:30-8:30PM: Picnic, Games (for the Willing), Socializing
Masks are encouraged. If you feel any symptoms of sickness or have been knowingly exposed directly to COVID or other infections, please stay home and help keep us safe.
Policy Action Team
You may have heard that the Republican administration hopes to pass a budget reconciliation bill that not only includes language that would put vast swaths of our public lands up for sale but also would take food and healthcare away from millions, all in the name of expanding tax cuts for large corporations and the country’s wealthiest.
2. Call Senator Cantwell (DC office 202-224-3441) and Senator Murray (DC office 202-224-2621) and demand they vote NO on the Senate Republicans’ Big Ugly Reconciliation Bill. You can thank both Senators for speaking out against the sale of our public lands, and ask them to continue to do everything they can to stop this bad bill.
3. Come to Federal Building Fridays! Every Friday (excluding July 4) join us downtown at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building 915 2nd Ave from 11:30am-1:30pm to hear speakers, rally for Federal workers, and participate in the open mic. We are always looking for people to speak out about climate justice issues! ContactBeth (bebrunton@hotmail.com) if you’d like to learn more.
4. Join our next Policy Action Team meeting, this upcoming Wednesday, July 2, from 5-6pm on Zoom. Email Beth or Linnea for more info or to get the link.

The 350 Seattle Book Club
Happy July! As we enter the summer, the book club is excited to pivot to some podcasts and solar punk books! We are also planning to meet OUTSIDE for the rest of the summer. If weather does not play nice, we will return to our hybrid format meeting in person at the U Heights building with a Zoom option.
As always, you do not have to have read the book or listened to the podcast to participate! We are also looking to plan a few Book Club Socials over the summer. If you would like to be kept in the loop about upcoming book club events, please sign up for our email list!Hope to see many of you pop in on a conversation or join one of our socials this summer!
The Aviation Team
The Blue Angels are coming back to Seattle this summer — to shower us with noise pollution, proven community health impacts, and climate harms, not to mention glorifying militarism. Help the Aviation Team tell them “thanks but not thanks”! Join us at the Airshow Climate Action march and rally on Saturday, August 2 at Genesee Park to push for a graceful retirement of the Blue Angels and for re-imagining Seafair. Scroll down to the AntiWar section of the newsletter below for ways to get involved with this action.
The 350 Seattle Anti-War x Climate workgroup needs you! And while sometimes huge systemic entities like the US war machine seem very far beyond our control, we have a chance to show some people power locally in Seattle this summer.
We need you to help say “No to the Blue Angels” Saturday, August 2, at Genesee Park!Details are still being finalized, but the Airshow Climate Action Coalition (which 350 Seattle is part of) is planning a march and rally at Genesee Park, beginning 10am. There will be banners, signs, flyers and ear plugs to hand out to ticket holders entering the show – very likely music, possibly a die-in!
This is the 3rd year running the Airshow Climate Action Coalition to stop the Blue Angels. We have appealed to the City of Seattle, who permits use of Genesee Park and to the Seafair Board itself. To no avail. So we’re escalating:
Webinar July 7, 7pm (invitation coming soon).
Look for our billboard on Rainier Avenue beginning July 14. Watch for our survey on how the Blue Angels affects you and your community. Look for our posters around town – leading up to the August 2 protest.
Join the 350 Seattle Anti-War x Climate Collective workgroup (AWxCC)! We meet every 4th Wednesday, 6:30-7:30 and communicate via Signal. Reach out to AWxCC co-leaders Aedan or Maryfor more information on the Signal group, the monthly Zoom meeting, or to sign up for the twice-montly newsletter published by the Seattle Anti-War Coalition.
Climate Grief & Empowerment
What we are witnessing in our world right now cannot be faced alone or without support. Through participating in community practices that help us embrace uncertainty and build resilience, you can not only endure, but further, you can move closer to uncovering the unique gifts you might bring to this moment.
So consider joining us for the next Climate Grief and Empowerment Group, where we process our climate-related emotions in community. We meet monthly on every second Saturday. Drawing from Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects, we’ll engage in collective practices that deepen our capacity for dwelling with difficult emotions and strengthen our strategies for coping in uncertain times.
Our upcoming Climate Grief and Empowerment Group Monthly Gatherings are Saturday, July 12th, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am, and Saturday, August 9th, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am.
We welcome adults (18+) for as many or as few meetings as you would like! The Climate Grief and Empowerment Group is co-sponsored by350 Seattle and Climate Action Families, out of the recognition that ongoing emotional support plays a critical role in building community resilience and robust social movements.
The People’s Echo
The People’s Echois a healing-centered song collective based on Coast Salish Lands. We catch and share songs as medicine for these times, and tend to community resilience through the practice of joining our voices in song. Our mission is to heal ourselves and the world through the practice of community singing and to reclaim our voices as instruments for personal and collective liberation. Sign up for our newsletter here.
Those Troublemakers
As people are disappeared off the streets and Trump promises to increase the ICE raids in Seattle and across the country, it’s more important than ever that we’re skilled up to organize effective protests and resistance. But effective actions require skills, experience, and practice.
The training is from 3-6PM in Capitol Hill—and it will be an interactive introduction to the safety, planning, and essential skills needed for effective nonviolent direct action.
During the training, we’ll take inspiration from the history of direct action, talk through different action roles, the purpose and importance of affinity groups, and we’ll practice de-escalation role plays and action scenarios. We will walk through important legal considerations to know before, during and after you take action.
The training will be led by direct action practitioners with decades of experience in nonviolent direct action across various social and environmental justice movements.
