Updates and Highlights

  • Doug from 350 Juneau took advice from Sue of 350 Wenatchee last week and contacted electeds in his state to publicly voice their support for counting every vote – this is an important strategy that we can all do from home
  • We enjoyed Sunrise Movement’s “Rise Up” video – I used to lead this song live at our 350 Tacoma general meetings!
  • Pedro from Kitsap Environmental Coalition reported that their group has developed a logging moratorium petition with the goal of sequestering 5+ million tons of carbon annually – let’s keep our eyes out for ways to support this
  • Sue from 350 Wenatchee reported on their upcoming COVID-friendly event – adding signs and prompts to a series of public sculptures to provoke thoughtful discussion about the climate crisis, and to invite more folx into the group
  • Elaine from 350 Juneau reported that they are planning their first virtual event/general meeting and are excited to build their skills in this area for future events, too

Ps, Washington friends, our keystone campaign for the 350 Washington Network is the 350 Washington Civic Action Team. We’re planning our biggest mass mobilization yet to advocate for bold and just climate policy in the 2021 legislative session, and you are invited to join our workgroup. We meet every Friday morning from 9-10:30am PST (sometimes shorter!) to develop this project, and you are welcome to join the team! Check out our master training and meeting schedule here, and drop in whenever you’d like.
